THE REASON I AM ALIVE TODAY: LISA’S STORY
Hi, my name is Lisa, and I want to share this video I recorded to show you the impact of your support.
At the end of 2018, I went for my yearly check-up with my family doctor. I expected to leave the doctor’s office with peace of mind as usual.
Instead, my doctor felt a nodule on my thyroid. After some tests, I was referred to Dr. Nathalie Johnson, a hematologist-oncologist at the Jewish General Hospital and it was soon confirmed I had Stage 2 Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
It was the last thing I ever expected and my whole world crumbled.
Over the course of the next four months, I had multiple rounds of chemotherapy, follow-ups, and countless blood tests and appointments with Dr. Johnson.
I was lucky to be in her care at the best hospital I could have hoped for. I’m also lucky that the JGH has wonderful donors – like you – who are part of the reason I am alive today.
Today, my life could not look more different. Six months after my world turned upside down, I learned I was in remission. I am now married and pregnant with our first child – these are dreams my wife and I thought we might not ever get to experience together.
No matter the size of your donation, no matter what compels you to donate, I want you to know that your generosity transforms the lives of patients like me.
I am forever grateful to the JGH, the safe place that took care of me in my darkest hour.
Please donate to the JGH to help save lives – like mine!
