Together, Alice and Joan are facing cancer at the JGH

Thanks to donors like you, my best friend and I have the expert care we desperately need as we face cancer together.

It all started the day I found a lump under my arm. I had no idea my life was about to change. Soon after I was diagnosed with melanoma, my rock of 40 years, Alice, was also diagnosed with cancer.

After my diagnosis, I was transferred to the JGH’s Segal Cancer Centre, known for delivering the highly specialized care my condition demanded. Now, Alice and I are in the thick of treatment together. We’ve celebrated many milestones through 40 years of friendship. Still, we never imagined facing two cancer diagnoses together.

We’ve cared for each other through every fever, every symptom, and every frightening moment. When I was feverish, Alice brought me cold compresses. When she began losing her hair, I bought her a collection of scarves to wear.

We are stronger together, and thanks to the JGH, powered by donors like you, we know we are not alone. The JGH and the Segal Cancer Centre are the places that hold us both.

That’s why Alice and I both donate to support the JGH. Will you join us? Your donations provide patients like us access to the best treatments and life-saving equipment to help us heal.

The future is bright, thanks to dedicated monthly donors like you. Your generosity helps create a true community of care. It fuels research that leads to life-saving treatments. It fuels innovation, and compassionate patient care. Your donations also power the latest technology that thousands of families count on each year.

Because in life’s darkest moments, there’s nothing like a great friend – and an incredible hospital community – to get you through.

Please support patients like me and Alice, across the JGH, by donating today.

“I’m receiving immunotherapy, a treatment made possible because of groundbreaking research funded in part by donors like you. I’m thankful for my best friend – and to the JGH – for supporting us through this.”
