On that very special night, Espace Réunion was transformed into an incredible Circus Glam theme for the delight and enjoyment of all present. Contortionists and other performers dazzled the guests with their amazing choreography and costumes, while host Tracey Trash brought her famous high energy and humour to produce a highly spectacular affair. VIP guests enjoyed gourmet delights and the dance floor was packed well up to the wee hours of the morning. Upon departure, all guests were also treated to loot bags filled with exciting goodies and gift certificates.

POP! was a huge success, raising more than $165,000 in support of the Louise Granofsky Psychosocial Oncology Program at the Jewish General Hospital’s Segal Cancer Centre. This program, unique in Quebec, brings together psychologists, social workers, psychiatrists, nurses, physicians and researchers with years of specialized experience. Together, they form an integrated team to help patients and their families overcome the psychological burden of cancer at all stages of the illness. The program has proven highly effective in alleviating the distress of cancer patients and their families and improving their quality of life; it is funded almost entirely by private donations. The event was also highly successful in increasing the level of awareness and generating a lot of interest towards the JGH among young Montrealers.

Launched in September 2009, the JGH Foundation Next Generation Committee, chaired by Avi Krispine and Giancarlo Salvo, is a group of young professionals and entrepreneurs dedicated to making a difference in Quebec healthcare. Members of the committee range in age from 25 to 40, and come from a variety of professions, cultural origins and religious backgrounds – reflecting the diverse communities the JGH serves. They have taken it upon themselves to use their extensive collaborative and networking skills to promote and support the Jewish General Hospital. Their main goals are to educate and engage their peers in the development and quality of the JGH’s services, and to organize fundraising activities targeting areas of the hospital that are meaningful to their demographic group.
