9th Annual HSBC Bank Canada Golf Tournament
Benefiting the Segal Cancer Centre of the JGH

The 9th Annual HSBC Bank Canada Golf Tournament was held on September 20th at the prestigious Laval-sur-le-Lac Golf Club, a brand new venue that has added a novel and exciting dimension to what is already one of the most memorable and rewarding golf tournaments to be played on the green.

Golfers were greeted by volunteers offering a wide array of exclusive golf related accessories “to go” with their new HSBC backpacks, topped off by a feature gift annually donated by Anglo Canadian HWI. The tournament was played on a beautiful, sunny day and was enthusiastically supported by 288 golfers who enjoyed food sponsored by Ferreira Café, m:brgr, Breville and Phoenicia. Mobile snack carts serving Vodka treats and Bilboquet Ice Cream were also enticing golfers with special draws. Friendly competition was sponsored by McCarthy Tétrault and Dorel Industries and was topped off by the elusive Audi Prestige and Porsche Prestige Hole-in-One, where two-year leases were up for grabs.

The excitement of the day’s competition carried over to the evening as 330 guests attended a cocktail dinatoire, during which a lucky winner snatched the ultimate prize: two Air Canada airline tickets to anywhere in North America and the Carribeans, along with an exclusive set of luggage from Travelway Group.

In keeping with HSBC Bank Canada and the JGH’s commitment to hold an environmental friendly golf tournament, the event’s giveaways were once again remitted in backpacks rather than plastic bags and the program book was saved on a USB key instead of being printed. The latest green initiative to be inaugurated – “See your Game” – directed participants to special internet links revealing their foursome photos and showcasing their golf swing.

Food and Treats on the Green

Altogether, the 9th edition of the Annual HSBC Bank Canada Golf Tournament was a resounding success, raising over $420,000 in support of the Segal Cancer Center and its unique Adolescent and Young Adult Oncology Program. This annual event showcases, like no other, the tremendous value and power of the unique relationships and inspiring partnerships we enjoy with the private sector and with deeply committed corporate citizens like HSBC Bank Canada. Indeed, over the past eight years, the Tournament has raised in excess of 2.5 million dollars in support of comprehensive and compassionate care, for patients and their families, at the Segal Cancer Center.
